Become Brain (Fem)powered

60 minutes | Virtual or in-person

As women, we’re not usually encouraged to think of our brain health proactively. And when we do report problems like “mom brain” or headache, the medical establishment dismisses our concerns with “that’s just how it is.” But it doesn’t have to be that way. In this talk, I’ll share how you can recognize the potential of your own brain, practice self-care in new ways, and advocate for your brain health (and that of your family).

Parents of neurodiverse and special needs children are often encouraged to “accept” them for who they are, which can leave us feeling powerless. In reality, there’s so much we can do to cultivate a healthy brain in children, no matter what their needs or abilities. I’ll share my story as the mother of a child with Down Syndrome, give candid advice on how to work on brain development, and also explore how we can use language to empower our children and ourselves.

My Background

I’m a board-certified neurologist and founder of Best Nest Wellness. I’m also a mother of two, including a pre-professional ballerina and a son with Down Syndrome. Following my son’s birth, I dove into the research about pre- and postnatal brain health, then launched a line of supplements designed to cultivate brain health for every lifestage. I am an activist and advocate, helping women see the untapped potential of a healthy brain.
